Nice.

it's a cute little piece, it's a very good beginning piece. the fact that you used no loops is impressive. Exponentially better than my first piece, which will never be heard by anyone other than me, as I deleted it from the face of the earth.

You've got potential. Best of luck in future endeavors, mate. :P

But you should take theory, it's very helpful. I had no idea how much it would improve my music until I took it.

RadioactiveRhino responds:

Thanks, MJTTOMB!
You have noo idea how hard it is to compose without piano :P
And I am taking theory at the moment, so I hope it does.

Damn you two!

Sooooo... perfect. Not nice.

Haha
Sorry :P

Nice.

Very haunting, has a very nice language. The strings remind me of some of Setu-Firestorm's early work. My only problem was the solo instrument, with which I had two quarrels. The melody was very difficult to make out, whereas the melody is often terribly outspoken in deeply classical styles. The other was simply the fact that it was a guitar. Personally, a piano is a very moving and haunting instrument in the night. Perhaps this is because of my preconceived notions of an ideal piano song because of Beethoven's Sonata 14, "Moonlight". But it was certainly a very enjoyable piece.

The final chord is the dominant chord, no? It sounds like it should be a fifth down, most songs generally end on the tonic. (just jotting down little things as I notice them.)

But a great job, 5.

LadyArsenic responds:

^ ^ Thank you very much for your kind words and generous scoring. I know this isn't exactly the way classical music should sound, but it's the way I like to write. I like to give the people out here a taste of something completely and utterly new. No melody needed to be established to emit the passion in this song, and I chose a guitar because it sounds more like the moon for me in that riff. Anyway, glad you enjoyed!

It's good.

But it sounds waaay too much like stop motion symphony. (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/list en/67152)

But it's ok. I like it, I just can't get over the similarity.

Good playing if you actually played it though, it went rather smoothely. The opening section was confusing, and it was rather syncopated. I think it was like a strange 3/4 meter, I can't really tell. Oh well. Nice job.

timpinisucks responds:

Yeah I played it with musical typing and played a retard, but my computer lagged and messed up the rythmn so I just brought it down to 64th notes and spread them out increasingly far. Very ghetto but it kinda worked.
OH and I've never heard that stop motion song, but I'll listen to it now.
AND I can play all the piano parts. I usually play all that piano stuff with my left hand and the guitar part with my right.

Great.

My only quarrel with this song is that the piano is more or less the same thing as "I Wander as I Wander". It's a very good piano arrangement, tho. The orchestra seemed a little out of place. It was doing fine with just the piano, and it really needed nothing more. But a great job.

SolusLunes responds:

Never heard of the song that you mentioned.

Ah well. Thanks, though! :D

Cute. :P

Despite the restrictions of some GB instruments, it sounds pretty good. The best word I can think of is "cute".

It's so terribly happy though. I'm not supposed to be capable of smiling. xD

The only problem I noticed was that there was a lack of variance. The key never changed, it was kind of the same thing for three minutes.

But yeah. just add a little more variation by transposing, inverting, and just developing the melody, and it'll grow a lot.

timpinisucks responds:

Thanks. I often find my music builds and builds... and builds... to what? That is a suprisingly hard cookie for me to crumble, but this was a fun "happy" piece. That was the mood I was going for. I'll think of your comments in my next song(s).

Same key? It's the same melody, same everything.

This isn't too original at all. It's just Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique slowed down. The G-Ab-F#-G Motif is also stolen.

It's decent. I suppose. It's not really a symphony, as there's not a main theme, and there aren't 4 movements, but yeah.

It's kindof an insult to Beethoven's Genius.

I'll give it a 3 and 5 because Beethoven wrote it, and I respect him as a genius.

timpinisucks responds:

Just to clarify, though I thought I was clear enough in the description. I wrote the song FIRST, then realized it was in the same key at Beethoven's Sonata, which I can also play on piano, so I combined the two and added my favorite part from the sonata at the beginning and slowed down later through out the piece. You can argue that I copied the best parts if you want. I did, and I'm not denying it, but I still think it sounds cool, which is my point anyway.

Lawl.

It's a freaking funeral mass, mate. xD

Lol @ the happiness.

Anyway, it's great. Yey.

MusicalRocky responds:

Yeah lol. Well I wrote this like over a year ago, I didn't really know what I was doing lawl.

Glad you like it though :P

Sweet.

It's like double stopping galore. xD

It sounds very Baroque, so I'd guess it's from your canon?

Meh. But great job. fifen. And congrats on #18 all time.

:P

Regards.

MusicalRocky responds:

Double stopping indeed :D

Nope not from my canon haha.

Thanks though, I'm glad you like it. I have no idea how it didn't get zero'd last night.Or how my concerto got no.18.

Sounds good.

All around, it's a good composition. The only problems i see are in the piano work like sbb said. the grace notes are ok, but they come too early, they are held too long, and they are out of the key. But regardless, its simple yet effective style is very soothing. just out of curiosity, how much theory have you had? If you want to work out of the key, I've got a few tricks you may or may not be familiar with. anyway, good job, I give it a 9.

Regards, you did a good job.

GronmonSE responds:

Theory? Close to nothing? :D

I'm a self-taught guitarist, not a pianist to be honest. Usually, I make a simply melody on my acoustic and then make a midi on FL. I would record some metal, but my gear and software suck.

After working on something else and clearing my mind, I finally noticed what you two meant =P It sounds a bit off indeed.

I'd love to learn those tricks, you can either PM me or post in my dead profile's comment box, even if it's not ontopic :D

Thanks again and sorry for the late response.
