It's like double stopping galore. xD

It sounds very Baroque, so I'd guess it's from your canon?

Meh. But great job. fifen. And congrats on #18 all time.

:P

Regards.

January 16, 2008

Author's Response:

Double stopping indeed :D

Nope not from my canon haha.

Thanks though, I'm glad you like it. I have no idea how it didn't get zero'd last night.Or how my concerto got no.18.

Drawbach

"Uhh..."

submission: Drawbach

This sounds you just dragged a midi into a program and exported it. You did nothing to change the original, you added not the slightest spark of creativity, and you picked the most cliché piece to rip off.

I'll give you a 5 and a three, only because i'd never give Bach a zero. At least you have good taste. Personally I prefer invention 13.

Sorry to be harsh, but it could be more original than just copying. At the very least, you could have added something.

Author's Response:

I DID drag a midi into a program, a midi I made myself, that is.

Thxn for explaining your low score anyway.

Concerto in E Minor

"Not that great."

date: January 5, 2008

You really need to work on your ego. This doesn't take the cake, or the pie, or the pizza, heck, this doesn't even take the nachos.

For 15, this is decent, nothing more. Other than it not being a concerto, and the extremely cliché left hand, it was decent. The left hand is in so many other works I've heard, and it's much like a rock bass line. Also, it's not a concerto. It's like a gigantic ternary piece. Generally, the third movement isn't the same thing as the first. Concertos are supposed to be virtuosic as well, but I can see a fairly new pianist learning this with ease. Also, concertos have an orchestra or ensemble to back the lead instrument up.

Keep working, if you keep practicing, you'll get better.

Sorry for the harsh words, but you can't be egotistical at our musical experience. We're just mediocrities. But one day, we may get lucky, eh?

Author's Response:

okay, i think I see what you are saying. and i have to say, this is just and audio from Finale that I have. I wasn't trying to egotistical, it's just that all of the people that I have shown this to befor putting it on Newgrounds really loved it, so I will change that part on the comment, thanks. I guess a new title would help to...I couldn't think of anything else to name it, but some title ideas would really help. Also, some better left hand would is needed, I clearly see that. The "third" movement is meant to be like the begining, I just wanted to put in the main theme again. I will definately consicer changing the title and my comment, thank you!

.:Sleepless Nights:.

"Sounds good."

date: January 2, 2008

All around, it's a good composition. The only problems i see are in the piano work like sbb said. the grace notes are ok, but they come too early, they are held too long, and they are out of the key. But regardless, its simple yet effective style is very soothing. just out of curiosity, how much theory have you had? If you want to work out of the key, I've got a few tricks you may or may not be familiar with. anyway, good job, I give it a 9.

Regards, you did a good job.

Author's Response:

Theory? Close to nothing? :D

I'm a self-taught guitarist, not a pianist to be honest. Usually, I make a simply melody on my acoustic and then make a midi on FL. I would record some metal, but my gear and software suck.

After working on something else and clearing my mind, I finally noticed what you two meant =P It sounds a bit off indeed.

I'd love to learn those tricks, you can either PM me or post in my dead profile's comment box, even if it's not ontopic :D

Thanks again and sorry for the late response.

"Ewoud" is it happiness? loop

"Lol."

date: December 21, 2007

Sounds a lot like "Ah vous dirais-je, Maman" (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). Very cute. But in terms of classical form, you would have been able to finish it off on a better not had you repeated the original few measures a second time after the middle section.

Yey for ternary form. :P

5/5

Missing You (Preview)

"Pretty Good."

date: December 21, 2007

There were some weird cadences here and there, but this is a really good passage. Some light percussion would be nice.

For an intro, I think a soft, sweet piano solo (nothing too complicated. Just the theme with supporting left hand chords.)

Also, a larger orchestral section following this would be nice, followed by an abrupt return to the piano solo to close it off.

But great job. I'll look forward to hearing more from you, mate.

Pretty good. Cm, my favorite. xD.

A very nice progression, although not really classical.

Entertaining nonetheless. Some nice transitions of mood in there.
